Red, White & Blue Day

Red, White & Blue Day

To remember those who lost their lives on September 11, and to honor our heroes and the US military, we will be having Red, White & Blue Day on Thursday, September 9 and Friday, September 10.  We encourage all ELC children and their parents to wear patriotic colors on these days. We will begin our day saying the Pledge of Allegiance and praying together.

Snow Cone Social Sept 19

Snow-Cone Social

The ELC will hold its second annual Snow-Cone Social at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 19th at Terrace Park. The park is located two blocks north of the preschool at the corner of Grove and LaSalle. We will provide the ice & the flavors, you provide the fun!  Bring something to sit on (blanket or chairs) and enjoy an afternoon of park play and meeting fellow ELC families. We will eat Snow-Cones and visit with each other while the children play on the playground. Please join us and get to know the staff and other ELC families.

Network of Community Ministries

You may have noticed the blue laundry basket outside the ELC office. United Disciples Christian Church collects donations of food, paper goods, baby items and toiletries for the Network of Community Ministries. Network is located in Richardson and they help families living within the RISD attendance zone who need temporary financial and/or food assistance. We have offered to collect whatever items our families may be willing to donate to this worthy cause. Occasionally Network will ask for specific items they are running low on, and we will pass these requests on through this newsletter. Always needed are small containers of cooking oil, flour, sugar, canned meats, powdered milk, diapers, formula and personal toiletries. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.  Miss Tonia will be coordinating a food drive for Network through the Bible class during the month of November.

One Person’s Trash…

Please think of the ELC when you are cleaning out toy boxes before or after Christmas. Many of our favorite toys have been donated to us from our families. We are always looking for gently used push bikes and tricycles, and we are happy to consider manipulatives, puzzles and other small toys. We may not be able to use everything you bring us, but we’d be happy to look.
